About Us
Special Education Gurus provides training courses for professionals in the Midwest. We work with supervisors and school administrators, including special education coordinators and directors, building principals, and superintendents, to deliver practical, effective, and high-quality training and professional development resources for paraeducators and teachers.
Amy Jacobson
Amy Jacobson created Special Education Gurus after seeing a need for easy-to-access and effective training for teachers and paraeducators who work with students with disabilities. She developed the courses based on her 20+ years of experience working as a special education teacher as well as working as a faculty member in a master’s program in special education at a University located in the Midwest.
Amy completed her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Mayville State University and holds a Master of Education in Special Education as well as a Doctor of Education in Teacher Education from the University of North Dakota.
Amy and her husband, Tom, and their three daughters live in West Fargo, ND.

Ann Ellison
Ann Ellison has spent most of her adult career working to help others – first as a social worker, mostly focusing on the elderly population, and now assisting learners progress through the courses offered through Special Education Gurus. She also performs administrative tasks for a local church, as well as prepares monthly newsletters providing information for senior citizens in five counties in North Dakota.
Ann has a Bachelor of Social Work from Minnesota State University, Moorhead. She lives with her husband, Todd, and her two sons on a farm in Cass County.
